Notice of Volunteer Opportunities
The City of Lincoln City is accepting applications for the listed volunteer board and committee positions below. Applications are accepted or available to print on the city’s website, www.lincolncity.org, under “Government” the select “Boards and Committees.” You can also request more information by contacting the City Recorder at cityrecorder@lincolncity.org or (541) 996-1203.
Applications are always accepted for any committee.

Budget Committee (meets the spring of each year for one training course and generally three meeting days, in the Council Chambers, third floor of City Hall)
The Budget Committee is a seven-member committee, which makes recommendations to the City Council on the City’s budget.
One (1) partial term for City Residents, expiring 12/31/2028
Charter Review Committee (The tentative meeting schedule is the second and fourth Monday of each month. The tentative time is 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.) This committee has an approximate 14-month duration.
The City Charter Review Committee will include three Council Members, one from each ward: three community members, one from each ward. The primary function of the City Charter Review Committee is to review the existing City Charter to determine if it will adequately serve the Lincoln City community into the future. If necessary, the committee will recommend draft amendments to the City Charter. The proposed charter amendments will ultimately be reviewed by the City Council for placement on the ballot for the voters of Lincoln City to approve or reject.

Driftwood Public Library Board (meets the 1st Wednesday of each month, at 3:30 p.m. in the Driftwood Public Library’s Fischer Room, 2nd Floor of City Hall)
The Driftwood Public Library Board Serves as an advisory body to the Library Director and the City Council and represents library users in the community.
One (1) one year term for a Youth Position, expiring 6/30/2027
One (1) partial term for City Residents/UGB, expiring 6/30/2028
Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Meetings are held at the Lincoln City Community & Rec Center)
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is an advisory board empowered to study and recommend to the City Council on matters related to the City's Parks projects and Recreation Programs.
One (1) one year term for a Youth Position, expiring 6/30/2027
Planning Commission (meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, third floor of City Hall)
The Lincoln City Planning Commission is a seven-member citizen advisory body appointed by the City Council. Planning Commissioners are registered voters and generally live inside the city limits; however, up to two members may live outside the city limits but inside the urban growth boundary. No more than two members may have the same occupation. Commissioners serve for 4-year terms.
The Planning Commission is responsible for assisting the City Council in developing and revising the city's comprehensive plan and development standards that implement the plan (such as the zoning and subdivision ordinances). The Commission also makes decisions on land use matters such as subdivisions, conditional use permits, planned unit developments, and variances. The Planning Commission occasionally participates in joint work sessions on specific topics with the City Council.
The city provides all Planning Commissioners with a laptop computer to use during their term. Planning staff and the city attorney provide initial and on-going training to commissioners. To aid the planning commissioners in their deliberations, city staff prepare a report of background information, analysis, and recommendations for each matter the Commission considers, and sends it to the commissioners several days in advance of the meeting.

Public Arts Committee (meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the Public Works Conference Room located on the Third Floor of City Hall).
The purpose of the Public Arts Committee is to serve as an advisory committee to the City Council on matters of art, the acquisition of public art, as well as to expand the experience of the city’s residents and visitors through public art. The aim of the Public Arts Committee is to improve the quality of life in the city by allowing residents and visitors to view and interact with public art regularly in public places and to instill a concern for beauty and good design in both the public and private sectors by setting high aesthetic standards, reflecting and communicating the history, character and values of the community and thereby creating a sense of place.

Sustainability Committee (meets the last Tuesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. at City Hall)
The community sustainability committee members may provide important knowledge and resources to the city council for the purpose of the adoption of ordinances, rules, regulations, policies, implementation, strategies, and funding related to an adopted sustainability plan.
