Sewer Spill at SE 9th St. & SE Inlet Ave.

On July 23, 2026, at 3 am, a sewer spill occurred at the corner of SE Inlet Ave. & SE 9th St. The spill occurred because of a break in a main sewer line. Our Wastewater crew repaired the broken line by 11 am. The sewer line break released 4,800 gallons. The spill traveled around the corner and down SE 9th St. into a storm drain at the corner of Hwy 101. The storm line drains into D River. Warning signs are up in the affected area.

Oregon Emergency Response System and the Department of Environmental Quality have been notified.

7/29/26 UPDATE: The warning signs have been removed from D- River. The City has received two water sample results from D-River that are below the statewide benchmark for E.Coli.
